As iron sharpens iron, so a friend sharpens a friend
Proverbs 27:17

On May 1st, 2018, I joined Cleft of the Rock Foundation as a director. I agreed to join, because I believe that the mission and vision of the foundation are in line with my beliefs. I believe the family and how we handle it makes a difference in our society and is at the core of the some of the issues that are becoming prevalent. Everyone, regardless of age, prior experience, and level of education can always learn more when it comes to being a parent and what you can offer your children. I feel that a lot of people do not have a true understanding of what it means and takes to be a good parent, with most people thinking that providing the basic necessities is enough. Therefore, I would like to help Cleft of the Rock Foundation reach as many parents, parents to be, aspiring parents (like myself), grandparents, aunts/uncles, and caretakers as possible.

I have always been passionate about helping others to be successful, overcoming obstacles, and motivating them to be the best version of themselves. I realized I enjoy helping others when I was a teenager and I took in a friend who was going to through hard times. Since then, all the work I have done has revolved around helping others. In the past I have volunteered in the community to help deliver toys during Christmas to less fortune children, helped with community renovation projects, and at an organization that provides services for homeless individuals. I am a very compassionate, patient and loving person. I believe that those are all things that people need a little bit of in their lives and I’m more than willing to share it.

I have a bachelor’s degree in psychology with a specialization in applied behavioral analysis and a minor in criminal justice. I also have a master’s degree in psychology with a specialization in addictions. One of my goals is to become a licensed mental health counselor so that I can open a practice and help individuals bridge the gaps in their lives. Currently, I am an admissions counselor at a drug/alcohol and mental health treatment center in Fort Lauderdale, FL. I truly enjoy this work, because I’m the first point of contact for individuals looking to change their lives.  I like to encourage clients by letting them know they are capable of making a positive change and they are worth it. As I grow in my field, I would like to use my expertise to help the foundation fulfill the needs of its members.
